Zippo, (ジッポー, Jippō), is an enemy in the Bomberman series.

Description[]

Super Bomberman 2[]

In Super Bomberman 2, it appears in Stage 2. It is a yellow (orange in-game) spherical candle with a wick. It moves slowly in a straight line until it collides with a block, bomb, or other enemy, at which point it pauses and then chooses a random direction and continues to move. It may choose to reverse directions even if it is not at a dead end. It will harm the player on collision. It takes 2 hits to defeat and yields a score of 200 points.

After being hit by an explosion once, Zippo catches on fire and pauses briefly before changing its pattern and resuming movement. Its movement speed increases and it will sometimes change directions at intersections. It will not pause if it runs into an obstacle. If it lines up horizontally or vertically with the player, and there are no bombs or blocks between them, it will move in the direction of the player. It should be noted that while it is initially catching fire, it is invincible.

Super Bomberman 5[]

In Super Bomberman 5, Zippo appears in the Zone 2. Upon being hit with an explosion once, it will increase its speed, but it does not seem to change its movement pattern. Also, the period for which Zippo remains stunned lasts much longer than it did in Super Bomberman 2. It takes 2 hits to defeat and yields a score of 200 points.

Bomberman DS[]

In Bomberman DS, Zippo is found in Area 8. This version of Zippo is identical to the one found in Super Bomberman 2/5, with the exception that this one does not become stunned after being hit with an explosion; it immediately resumes its movements at a faster pace. Interestingly, when hit once, Zippo's face becomes demonic and skull-like. It takes 2 hits to defeat and yields a score of 500 points.
