Puropen (プロペン, Puropen) is an enemy in Super Bomberman and Super Bomberman 5.

Description[]

Super Bomberman[]

In Super Bomberman, it comes into two variations.

Puropen: Found in Stage 1 and Stage 6. It has a round body, a propeller on its head, and an open snout-like mouth. It moves a straight line at a speed of 2 until it collides with a block, bomb, or other enemy, at which point it immediately chooses a random direction and continues to move. It may choose to reverse directions even if it is not at a dead end. It will harm the player on collision. It takes 1 hit to defeat and yields a score of 100 points.

Metal Puropen: Found in Stage 4 and Stage 6. It has metallic gray color and yellow eyes. It is identical to Puropen in its movement pattern, but it has more HP, a wider-opened snout-like mouth and moves much faster. It takes 5 hits to defeat and yields a score of 6400 points, the biggest in the game.

Super Bomberman 5[]

In Super Bomberman 5, The regular Puropen appears in equivalent areas of Zone 1. Its behavior is unchanged. It takes 1 hit to defeat and yields a score of 100 points.

Trivia[]

  • The literal name "Puropen" comes from the Japanese word "puropera", meaning "propeller".
  • Strangely, some artwork depicts Puropen as having a bear-like nose, rather than an open snout-like mouth.
