Not to be confused with Petan.

Pettan (ペッタン, Pettan) is an enemy in the Bomberman series.

Description[]

It is a blue bear wielding a toy hammer that turns bombs into items.

Super Bomberman 4[]

In Super Bomberman 4, Pettan is found in Modern Era. It moves at a normal pace in a straight line until it collides with a block, bomb, or other enemy, at which point it pauses and then chooses a random direction and continues to move. It may choose to reverse directions even if it is not at a dead end. It will harm the player on collision.

If Pettan lines up horizontally or vertically with a bomb and there are no obstacles between them, it will move quickly in the direction of the bomb. Upon contact with a bomb, Pettan will transform it into a random item with the use of its hammer. It can still perform this ability even when its movement pattern has been altered by the Alarm Device, even though it will no longer seek out bombs. Players can use Pettan's hammer to their advantage by collecting the items that it produces. It takes 2 hits to defeat and yields a score of 400 points.

Super Bomberman 5[]

In Super Bomberman 5, Pettan is found in Zone 4. It does not pause before changing directions, and does not speed up when seeking a bomb. It takes 2 hits to defeat and yields a score of 400 points.

Trivia[]

  • "Pettan" is a Japanese word that means "flatten", referring to its hammer.
  • In the artwork, Pettan has a tail that is not seen in in-game. In the sprite, the insides of Pettan's ears are pink and Pettan's blushing cheeks are apricot, both that are not seen in the artwork.
