Mr. Moai (Mr.モアイ, Mr. Moai), or Mister Moai (ミスターモアイ, Misutā Moai), is an enemy in the Bomberman series. He is a large stone head.

Description[]

Super Bomberman 2[]

Mr. Moai is found in the Castle Stage. It moves slowly in a straight line until he collides with a block, bomb, or other enemy, at which point he pauses and then chooses a random direction and continues to move. He may choose to reverse directions even if he is not at a dead end. He will harm the player on collision. It features a behavior identical to Puff Puff. It takes 2 hits to defeat and yields a score of 200 points.

Super Bomberman 5[]

In Super Bomberman 5, Mr. Moai appears in the Zone 2. It takes 2 hits to defeat and yields a score of 200 points.

Super Bomberman - Panic Bomber W[]

In Super Bomberman - Panic Bomber W, Mr. Moai appears in Kenya and is the second opponent faced in the stage. He quickly stacks blocks from right to left across his board, and frequently makes chains.

Trivia[]

  • The Moai are large, head-shaped sculptures found on Easter Island. Mr. Moai's appearance on the Dastardly Bombers' ship is likely a reference to some conspiracy theories that the Moai were created by aliens.
  • According to Super Bomberman - Panic Bomber W, Mr. Moai is good at soccer.

    Unused sprites of Mr. Moai

  • Unused sprites from Super Bomberman 2 indicate that Mr. Moai was originally intended to have some sort of extending tongue ability. It is possible that he originally had the ability to eat bombs, much like Namename.
  • A similar Moai, appeared as a trap in Bomberman Hero, although except for their apparence, they are different.
  • Moais are found recurringly in Konami games, this may be an Easter egg of some sort.
