Mad Brain is the fifth and final boss in Bomberman Max 2.

Description[]

It is fought in the fifth zone, Lab Zone. It has the appearance of a giant monstrous alien-esque brain that is the reincarnated form of Brain who wants revenge and defeat Bomberman and Max, under Mujoe's command. It is the guardian of the fifth and last Light Bulb Switch powering the Mini-Mini Device.

It is fought in 3 phases:

Phase 1[]

In Phase 1, Mad Brain is under the glass, and is surrounding by four rotating orbs. These orbs shoots lasers in different directions at regular intervals. These orbs are destroyed in 1 hit. Once there is no orb left, the boss doesn't have any mean of attack and just move around.

It takes 5 hits to defeat in this phase.

Phase 2[]

In Phase 2, the glass is destroyed, revealing the brain. It now has arms and can extend them as a protective measure in either the left and right side or up and down side, if the player tries to place a bomb near its body; the bomb will then be pushed away. It can also shoot laser beams from its arms.

It takes 5 hits to defeat in this phase.

Phase 3[]

In Phase 3, its arms are gone, and it is now able to move diagonally, passing through any kind of blocks.

After 1 hit, It will move to the center of the screen, and turn into 8 small balls that jump around and harm the player on collision. They are able to explode after a moment (2 directional blast range) although they are immune to their own blast. Each takes 1 hit to defeat.

If all the 8 balls are not defeated under a certain time, they will move to the center of the screen and reform into the Brain. The goal is to destroy them all, before they could reform into the Brain. If they manage to reform, the whole process will be repeated again, over and over.

It takes 1 (true) hit to defeat in this phase.
