The Killer Shot is a special limited-use ability that only appears in the Battle Mode of the video game Bomberman Jetters.

Description[]

It is one of the game's added features that was not included in its predecessor Bomberman Generation. Each character has a different Killer Shot, and they are what distinguishes one character from another in a gameplay sense. Used at the right time, a Killer Shot can completely turn the tide of a round, and they can be seen as a comeback mechanic, akin to the "super meters" seen in many fighting games.

To use their character's Killer Shot, the player must fill up a meter located next to their score counter. When full, the ability is activated by pressing L + R together (in the Gamecube version). Only one stock of Killer Shot meter can be held. Some Killer Shots work like an attack, others give power-ups that last for the remainder of the round, and some grant special status bonuses to the player that last for just a short time.

Killer Shots can be optionally disabled in the settings menu, and they are always disabled in all Battle Mode game types other than Standard Battle.

List of Killer Shots[]

  • Bomberman (all colors): The player receives a special Super Power Glove that immediately pumps bombs into Dangerous Bombs the instant they are picked up.
  • Max: Stats are completely maxed out, and the player is also given a Super Power Glove, Bomb Kick, and Bomb Punch if they do not already have them.
  • Mermaid Bomber: All bombs currently on-screen are trapped inside bubbles and harmlessly disappear.
  • Thunder Bomber: After a short delay, many lightning bolts strike all around the player, stunning enemies for a few seconds. This special stun lasts longer than hitting opponents with a thrown or kicked bomb.
  • Flame Bomber: Grants complete invincibility for 20 seconds, even from falling blocks during a Sudden Death. However, the player can't drop any bombs at all during this time. A non-invincible player touching Flame Bomber is stunned.
  • Grand Bomber: Positions of players and bombs are randomly moved around.
  • Hige Hige Bandits (including secret versions): All players still on the map are frozen in the Hige Hige Pose from the anime for a second, no matter what they are doing.
  • Mighty (secret character): Similar to Flame Bomber's ability, this Killer Shot grants total invincibility. Unlike Flame Bomber, Mighty can still drop bombs during this time, though it only lasts for 10 seconds instead of 20.
  • Mujoe (secret character): Mujoe charges ahead until he hits a wall. All players he touches while running are stunned, and the first person touched will lose their items, which can be picked up by others.
