Jump Ninja, also known as Tobimaru (トビマル, Tobimaru), is an enemy in the Bomberman series. It is a blue-clad ninja that can leap over explosions. It is usually depicted as male.

Description[]

Super Bomberman 4[]

In Super Bomberman 4, Jump Ninja is found in the Edo Era. It moves at a normal pace, changing directions upon colliding with a block, bomb, or other enemy. If it lines up vertically or horizontally with a player, and there are no walls between them, it will pause before moving in the direction of that player. It will harm the player on collision.

If Jump Ninja lines up horizontally or vertically with a bomb and it is within the bomb's Fire range, it will stop in the middle of a tile space and wait for the bomb to explode. Right before the bomb explodes, Jump Ninja will leap into the air and evade harm. Jump Ninja cannot evade the explosions produced by Remote Control bombs. It takes 1 hit to defeat and yields a score of 400 points.

Super Bomberman 5[]

In Super Bomberman 5, Jump Ninja is found in Zone 4. It keeps the same behavior, except that it can now evade explosions produced by Remote Control bombs, when facing them, but not when the Remote Control Bombs are beside it or behind it. It takes 1 hit to defeat and yields a score of 400 points.

Bomberman Max[]

In Bomberman Max, Jump Ninja is found on Secret Star. It moves at a normal pace, constantly pursuing the player. When it is horizontally or vertically aligned with a bomb, and it is no more than 2 tile spaces away, it will stop moving and jump when the bomb explodes, evading harm. It takes 1 hit to defeat.

Trivia[]

  • The Japanese name "Tobimaru" is composed of the Japanese word "tobi", meaning "leap", and "maru", a suffix for names that was popular in the Edo period.
  • In their original appearance, Fire Ninja, Jump Ninja, and Pitch Ninja were all named "Chibimaru". "Chibi" is a Japanese word that is used to describe small children or small, "cute" characters.
  • The official artwork from Super Bomberman 4 depicts only the Jump Ninja, there is no individual artwork for this game for either the Fire Ninja or Pitch Ninja.
