Green Bomber, Super Bomberman R

Green Bomberman (officially known as Green Bomber) is a recurring character in the Bomberman series. He mainly appears as an alternate skin to allow for more players in multiplayer mode.

Notable appearances[]

Green Bomber appears in Bomberman (TG-16) and Bomberman '93 as part of Black Bomberman's gang. Along with Blue, Red, and Yellow Bombers, he helped Black Bomberman in his evil ways until they were defeated by White Bomberman. In later appearances, he is a supporting good character.

Bomberman (TG-16)[]

Green Bomber is fought in the last stage along with the other Bombermen. He moves quickly and randomly. If he lines up horizontally or vertically with Bomberman, he will speed up and move in his direction as long as Bomberman is in his sight. He cannot place bombs, but he will harm Bomberman on collision.

Periodically, Green Bomber will stop moving and transform into a ball of fire, shooting one or two fireballs in random directions, which will harm Bomberman and detonate bombs on collision. While on fire, he is invincible, and will detonate bombs on contact. After some time, he will stop and revert to his ordinary form.

Green Bomber takes 2 hits to defeat and is worth 1000 points.

Bomberman '93[]

Green Bomber is fought on Planet Techo as part of the Black's Cycle Gang and rides what appears to be an early Motorbomber. He moves quickly and randomly, charging at Bomberman on sight and harming him on collision. Occasionally, he will place a Land Mine Bomb, which has a Fire range of one. He takes 2 hits to defeat and is worth 2000 points.

Super Bomberman 4[]

Green Bomber is sucked into the black hole along with his friends in Super Bomberman 4. He is captured by Hammer Bomber and can be freed from his Cage to help the player. He will drop bombs to help destroy Soft Blocks and monsters.

Super Bomberman R[]

In Super Bomberman R, Green Bomber is a playable character. In terms of personality, he is outwardly childlike, but conniving and manipulative towards his siblings. Green Bomber is the only secondary color Bomber of the Bomberman Brothers.

If playing with character abilities on, Green Bomber has the lowest possible maximum stats, but has special abilities like Kick, Boxing Glove, and Power Glove.

In Bomberman B-Daman BakugaidenGreen Bomber appears as a minor character. In Bomberman B-Daman Bakugaiden Victory, he has a larger role as one of the main protagonists.

In the Bomberman Land series and related games, Green Bomber makes an appearance alongside Blue Bomber. Together, they idolize Gold Bomber. While his name is unchanged in Japanese versions, English localizations refer to him as Bookworm Green.

  • Green's design in Super Bomberman R is a possible nod to the early entries in the Bomberman Land series where most of the main cast have a similar appearance. Another nod to the Land series with Green is that in the cutscene after defeating Phantom Bomber, Green is interacting with Blue Bomber.
  • Green Bomber appears in Neo Bomberman, but as a background character in Battle Mode in the scoreboard.
  • Although Green Bomberman is shown in the official gameplay trailers of Amazing Bomberman, Green Bomberman is not playable, nor do he even appear in-game.
  • In both the coloring books for the Bomberman games, Green Bomberman was shown to be sleeping in his bed on the back cover of the book. In the back cover of the Saturn Bomberman-themed coloring book, he was just relaxing on his back. This could be a reference to the unused idle animation used by White Bomberman, Red Bomberman, Green Bomberman and Black Bomberman in the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis version of Bomberman '94 (known as Mega Bomberman in Western regions), however, the bed as seen on the back cover of the Bomberman coloring book, is also a reference to the bed seen in Saturn Bomberman's opening intro, where White Bomberman is seen sleeping.
