Normal Mode (ノーマルモード)[]

This game is very similar to the original Bomberman. The player must navigate mazes, find the exit, and defeat all enemies before they can enter the exit. In this game, there is more than one item in each level and they are stockpiled in the inventory on the bottom screen. By tapping the item with the stylus, the player can activate the item at any time they wish. They can choose to use the items immediately or be more conservative with them.

When you complete a stage, you get 100 points for every seconds you have left on the clock, and all of your specials currently equipped will be removed. Every 100,000 points will earn you an 1-Up. Points maxed out at 9,999,999, and the player can only have up to 9 lives. If timer hit 0:00 during normal stage, Pontans will spawned from the exit every 8 seconds, however, it is still possible to clear all enemies long enough to reach the exit before it spawn anymore Pontans. If you lose a life, bomberman will lose all of his Bomb, Speed, Fire, and any specials he currently equipped. If you get a Game Over, you be kicked back to the title screen, and you have to start over from the last checkpoint in that file.

There are 10 Areas each with 10 Stages (for a total of 100 Stages). After every fifth stages in that area will be a Bonus Stage, bomberman (who is invincible during the Bonus Stage) will start at the bottom screen along with lots of Pontans, you must defeat all of them in order to open the gate to the top screen, where lots of items await for grabbing, the Bonus Stage ends when the timer reaches 0:00. NOTE: You cannot activate any Power-Up before and during the Bonus Stage.

In the tenth Stage of each of the 10 Areas, there always will be a Boss Stage. Some of the bosses are recolored monsters, three of them are completely new, and the Ponchos, Petunia, El-Baal and Grub Robs have returned. There is no time limit during Boss Stage, however, certain bosses at certain phases will fill the bottom screen with Pressure Blocks.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first game in the Bomberman series that appeared on the Nintendo DS.
  • This is the first Bomberman game to be published by Ubisoft in the west.
  • Most of the area music, enemies and graphics are re-used from the Bomberman Land game series.
  • Some enemies were re-used from the Super Bomberman game series.
  • The intro music for this game is actually 30 seconds long. But unfortunately, for this game, the actual intro itself lasted for roughly 15 seconds (Japanese version lasted for roughly 10 seconds).

Bomberman's "Super Deformed" Look[]

Around the time of this game's release, Bomberman had changed his look since the earlier GameCube games, Generation and Jetters. He has had this look in quite a few games now, and fans call it his "Super Deformed" look. This look is present in Bomberman Kart, Bomberman Hardball, and some of the earlier Bomberman Land games. Many fans disliked this look, and hence this was the last Bomberman game to feature it, returning to his original, more popular look for Bomberman Land Touch!. However, some fans sympathized Bomberman's appearance of this game, as it's said to be a nostalgic comeback for the Bomberman Land games.
