Mega Bomberman (also known as Bomberman '94 in Japan) is the sequel to Bomberman '93 and loose prequel to Super Bomberman 3. It was released exclusively for the TurboGrafx-16 in Japan, but was localized in other territories for the SEGA Megadrive/Genesis.
It is now available on the Virtual Console system for the Wii, under TurboGrafx-16 games. It retains the original PC Engine name.
Story
Planet Bomber was a peaceful thriving place until Bagulaa arrived with his army. The proceeding war split the planet into 5 pieces, and the hero Bomberman must restore the magical Spirit Pictures in order to restore Bomber Planet to the way it was, all the while defeating Bagulaa and his army of evil robots. This time, Bomberman's companion Louie can provide a helping hand.

Multiplayer
The original TurboGrafx-16 game allows up to 5 players in multiplayer mode, while the Mega Drive version only allowed up to 4, a trend that seemed to continue in the Bomberman series throughout most of it's life. In Mega Bomberman's multiplayer mode, some unique and comical designs for Bombermen can be used.
TurboGrafx-16/Mega Drive differences
Despite the Mega Drive being the more powerful console, the porting of Bomberman '94 to the MD actually has inferior graphics to the original version, and like mentioned above, less multiplayer options. There are also some changes in the soundtrack.
Trivia
- The pink rui's ability changed in games after this. Instead of dancing, it jumps over blocks.
