Bakudan 5 (バクダン 5, Bakudan 5) is an enemy in Super Bomberman 5 and Bomberman DS.

Description[]

Super Bomberman 5[]

In Super Bomberman 5, it appears in Zone 5. It is a giant happy bomb with 5 smaller bombs following it. It always moves forward at a slow pace, and always turns to the right after colliding with a wall or other obstacle. It will only turn left when the path to the right is blocked, and will never reverse direction unless it goes into a dead end. It will pursue the player if he or she is within 4 tile spaces, even diagonally.

If one of the smaller bombs within Bakudan 5's body is destroyed, the rest of Bakudan 5 will break apart and scatter. The head will resume its normal pattern of movement, but at a faster pace. The smaller bombs will run around aimlessly, constantly running back and forth, or turning at intersections only to turn back the way it just came, resulting in those pieces remaining stuck in the same general area. The head of Bakudan 5 has 2 HP, while each part of its body only has 1 HP, each yields a score of 100 points. If the head is destroyed without any other body part having been hit, the rest of Bakudan 5 will also be destroyed. When defeated, an item will appear after Bakudan 5's defeat. Both Bakudan 5 and the body segments will harm the player on collision.

Bomberman DS[]

It also reappears in Bomberman DS, found in Area 9. It works pretty much similarly to its Super Bomberman 5 incarnation. If one of the body segments is destroyed, Bakudan 5 will break apart and the bomb parts will scatter around. The head has 2 HP, while each of the body segments have 1 HP, each yields a score of 800 points.

Trivia[]

  • The name "Bakudan 5" is derived from the Japanese word "bakuda", meaning "bomb".
  • The enemy is very similar and works pretty much the same as Tamagon 5.
  • In Super Bomberman 5, the item will not appear if 2 of Bakudan 5's body segments are remaining on the screen.
